Taking Inca to Vets, UPDATE - Mon Night - She has EC

Kermit

Wise Old Thumper
Well if you have been reading my previous threads, you'll know that Inca has been losing weight and catching her back leg on things. Well this morning she was lying in her crate and couldnt get up, she was covered in pee and had poo's all round her, like she had been there for a while.

I lifted her out and she has no strength in her back leg, just the one of them.

I offered her food and she has eaten like a horse, she has had broccoli, cabbage, green beans, carrots, hay and orchard grass.

Infact, as im just writing this she has just hopped out from under the sofabed and jumped in the litter tray

Im taking her to the vets for 8.30am.....im just at a loss as to what this is, i hope she can be fixed!:cry::cry::cry:

how scary :(:(:(

hope the vet can give you answers, poor little baby if only she could tell you whats up

Poor girl

I would restrict her to a cage until the Vet sees her. Also, remove anything from the cage that she would jump on/into.

Good luck at the Vets xx

That's how I found Joey on Sunday - your vet has ruled out kidneys though which is good. Hope she's ok

Ive had to leave Inca at the Vets, she said that there was a high glucose level in her blood the last time, and she wants to check it again incase she has diabetes.
Failing that she will have X-Rays, but she is so weak, i dunno if she will cope, but i cant leave her staggering about.
Ive left Herbie there with her.
I'm cleaning their room worried that she might never come back :cry::cry:

Thanks, im just at a total loss as to what to do to help her, she is so perky when she is just sitting, then she moves and she hops a bit then staggers and falls, she is so weak.

Sending millions of vibes for Inca. I hope the vets can figure out what's wrong and she'll be home with you again soon.

Must be such a worry :( Huge hugs.

when will you have news about her? i really have everything crossed what ever is up with her is treatable xxx

The vet has just phoned, well the assistant, to say that they have done the blood tests and managed to X-ray her without any sedation, so the vet is looking over the X-rays and will phone me back.

She also said that she wolfed down the pellets and had ate the veg that i left and has been eating hay, so thats a good sign.

Im just worried about what it can possibly be!

Ill give another update when i know xx

loads of vibes xxxx

lots of hugs to you too... waiting for a diagnosis is possibly harder than the actual knowing whats going on :(

Well the vets just called, and its not good news.

She said that she got a urine sample and it had a high level of glucose and keytones? in it, so she suspects that she is diabetic.

From the X-ray she said that it looks like she has some damage to her spine.

And that added to the fact that she has problems down below, she says its not looking good.

She said that if she is diabetic then she will have problems recovering from the other things she has wrong with her.

She is going to speak to Alistair Lawrie (rabbit specialist) and get back to me, but i dont think its good.

I dont know what to do.
