Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Gas bubbles and a bit bloated

Jimby is going through a moult at the moment, he has had quite a large number of stringy poops today bless him.
He is eating well, still excitable over his veg, has not seemed QUITE as in to his biscuits last few days but still eating his hay.
I noticed he looked a little uncomfortable whilst laying down, he looked like he had a fur ball, you know when cats kind look like they have hiccups and their body moves, so I gave him some tummy rubs and it seems to hve settled down.
He does feel a bit bloated and I can feel some gas moving around in his tummy.
We do have Infacol, we have never given him any but have it in the house in case, would it be a good idea to give him some now and if so how much would we give him?

He weighs 2.5kg
He is on Catalax 1 inch per week as a preventative (He is prone to Statis)
Have also been given him the Treat Ums hair ball remedies to try and help him throuh his moult.

i used to give 1ml every hour and make Alvin run about.. fingers crossed you little man dont go into stasis xxx

usually until i paniced and took him to the vets or he started to look better  ive never had Alvin get gas and still eat though, he usually goes straight for the stasis :(

never heard that infacol has side effects and i would think it being for babies it would be extra safe... i do struggle to get it into Alvin tho its so thick and slimey yuk... im much happier with gripe water now

We have started by giving 0.5ml (One pippet), we popped it in a basil leaf sandwhich and he took it no problem.
So what should I keep an eye out for?

Just to given an update, Jims seems a lot happier in himself, he is moving around a lot more now and seems more comfortable, he has done some lovely poops and is now gobbling hay. I have given him a further 0.5ml just now so hopefully that will help ease any discomfort over night.
