Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hey everyone.. i was wondering if anyone could give me answers.. I few days ago my bunny didnt lok himself, i didnt really think anything of it.. then the next morning he was dead in his cage. I found a fistfull size blood pool and little specs around the cage. I then found dried blood around his nose and mouth. does anybody know what caused his death??
No animals couls have got to him and he was healthy up until then. I know i cant bring him back but i just wanna know if i did something wrong. thanks for any replys. Mel x

I am so sorry to read about your bunny.

It sounds to me like it could have been VHD. This can be vaccinated against in the UK but I'm not sure what vaccinations are available in Germany.

I guess there are other possibilities but it sounds like he definately had some sort of hemorrhage :(

I'm afraid it does sound like Viral Haemorrhagic Disease. Its caused by a virus which can be introduced on your shoes etc so even house bunnies are at risk.Prevention is by vaccination with either Lapinject or Cylap vaccine.
I'm so sorry for your loss, binky free little bun
