Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

how quickly can spurs come back again?

How long is a piece of string?

It can be anything from 2 weeks to 6 months or more.

Do you have any more infomation? i.e. are the teeth maloccluded or could it just be a minor problem caused by not eating enough fiberous material?

bisc and matts teeth don't quite meet together properly, they are at a slight angle. both eat loads and loads of hay. but last year both had spurs for the first time, matt twice and bisc once.

was just wondering because bisc's were quite bad, out of sight, and very sharp. i know some signs to look out for, things he did that were because his teeth were hurting. i will obv look for signs anyway, but didn't know if they could come back really quickly or not.

It's wierd. Yalta has a problem with spurs, but with no predictablility.

She has had periods between dental work of 2 months to 18 months (total of 6 times so far).

For us - the most obvious tell-tale sign is a build up of saliva in the mouth, it begins to sounds wetter when eating.

bisc was making funny noises when he was drinking. and the he became fussy over the water. it had to be cold and fresh. then he wouldn't eat as much hay.

don't know why they both got them for the first time last year either. :?
