Hi all,

Noel was neutered yesterday and we let him out today and he is chewing even more things than usual!!! How long does it take for them to calm down? It's great seeing him running around and being his normal self though :D

Thank you

xx

hmmm In my experience, neutering doesn't calm down chewing. it never did with Sophie, hence she is outside!

Neutering it to do with hormonal urges, so spraying, circling, dominant behaviour over space, food etc.

most tend to calm down after 4-6 weeks, it took Cherry about 8-10 weeks, Charlie never displayed any hormonal behaviour, so there is no real definative answer

calming down after neutered

Mojo was a little chewing monster a good 6 weeks on from neutering but he does seem quite suddenly to have calmed down a great deal in all ways, some nice chewing logs in his cage seem to take some of the urge away and ensure his teeth get exercise.
