Roger is unwell...

Our bad luck doesn't seem to end... Last week we lost Mýsla after a dental procedure and now her husband Roger is under the weather :(

The day after Mýsla's passing we introduced Roger to Mýsla's sister Mús who has been living alone as the girls did not get along. We have taken it easy with their introduction and the last few days they have been together most of the days. Playing and eating together and also cleaning one another. Both have been frisky and healthy, binkying etc.

Roger seemed fine this morning. Then when we came home from the gym around 3 pm we noticed that Roger was more quiet than usual. We offered him his favorite treats but to no avail. He shifts between laying flat on his stomach to huddling. No grinding though. We gave him painkillers around 6 pm (he has showed similar signs twice before and painkillers have helped him then). At 7 we syringed him water with probiotics (Professional) and gave him a tummy rub. His stomach is not hard, feels more soft like usual but we could hear gut sounds. At 9 there was still no change so we went to the pharmacy and got Simethicone drops which we gave him 1 ml of, together with more water with probiotics. We will now feed him critical care (Oxbow's).

He is currently laying next to a warm water bottle and Mús is not laying for away.

It all brings back the horrible memories from last week of loosing Mýsla

Please send our little man some good vibes!

PS. As we are in Jordan there is no vet around to help us...Otherwise we would of course have taken him straight to the vet...

Thanks for the vibes - Roger seems to be perking up :D Knock on wood!!!

We syringed him more water with probiotics, critical care and another 1 ml of Simethicone and after that he cleaned himself for a long time. Then he started jumping around the apartment, went for a wee in the litter box and nibbled on some dried dandelions. He is now back in the litter box.

Fingers crossed he really is perking up!

Roger has eaten some dried dandelions, some banana and is now eating his pellets. He also had some water :D He made soft poops which looked like his normal soft poops :)

We will keep on monitoring him through the night but we are so happy to see him eating and drinking

Everything crossed for Roger.
So many people have been deeply moved by Mysla, you have massive support on here.
Please keep us updated about Roger's progress.

ETA I know that it's case of getting anything we can into a bun at 1st. Buns vary a lot in what their gut can tolerate. If you can get him onto greens with less sugar tomorrow it would be good. I find cucumber helps with fluids. Then it's fiber, fiber, fiber & fluids, fluids, fluids.

Thanks for checking in on us!

Our little man is quite frisky this morning :D He has eaten his pellets (they are good pellets based on timothy, 28% fiber etc) and he has been drinking. He has also been on the toilet:) The second dosage of the Simethicone drops last night seemed to help him.

Fingers crossed and thank you all for your support!

We are so happy that our little Roger is feeling better

I'm absolutely delighted Roger is improving.

Sounds as if he had a bit of "stasis" with gas. The gas can froth up in the gut & the distended gut can't move the froth onwards -it just squidges about & builds up further, almost like a blockage. Simethocone is really good for this. It breaks down the froth so the gas can move on.

There are many causes for "stasis"/gut slow down (hypomotility).
Sometimes psychological stress is a factor. Just wondering if Roger was missing Mysla. How is the new bonding going?
