An unwell bun please help

Young Bun
Any advice will be much appreciated. We got a rabbit that was only 5 weeks old but had been removed from its mum. A long story! She is now about 10 weeks old and has been full of life and lots of mischief. We noticed yesterday that she was not bounding around as much as she usually does. Today she has eaten but hardly passed any urine. She is an indoor bun and has just been sitting hardly moving. She feels quite cold, her ears are cold too. We have had her snuggled on a snuggle safe. She is currently snuggled on my mums knee in a towel. No sneezes, coughs etc but she just looks unwell and miserable. Her ears are tucked right back. Any advice? Thanks

Sounds as if she is in pain. The best thing would be to get her to an emergency vet today. She may not survive if you wait next week. Does her tummy feel hard/bloated? Could she have eaten something unusual?
Please take her to a vet, if there is one open in your area. Good luck and vibes for the little one.

i agree, she sounds in pain... usually they hunch up and don't want to move... is she grinding her teeth at all??

i would keep her warm as you are doing and get to a vet asap.

don't want to scare you but it may be too late of you wait.

please keep us updated. xxx

I am not sure if she has pooped as she lives with another I could seperate them to monitor it. She keeps wanting to snuggle into her friend. She has eaten her pellets and a small piece of carrott. Her stomach does not not feel swollen. I am new to owning buns and this is the first time one has been ill.

that may be enough to set her tum off.... especially as she is so young... see what the vet thinks anyway.

sending vibes for her.... xxx

Thought I would update you. I rang a family friend who is a vet and gave me step by step instructions. We have massaged her stomach lots and is now weeing and pooing not as much as usual but is still going. Our friend said to keep syringing water into her which we are doing and to keep encouraging her to eat. She has eaten a little also. So we are taking her to the vets tomorrow she certainly seems to have perked up though. She has even had a little run around. So fingers crossed. Our friend said to continue as we were as she was still eating and drinking. Thankyou for all your vibes. I wanted to try and keep the day as normal as possible for our 3 year old!!!!

i am glad she is feeling better. plenty of hay should keep everything moving through her system.. thanks for keeping us updated xx

i had a bad feeling i would be reading about her going to the bridge. shame she didn't make it to the vets today.

i am a bit concerned about your family friend who is a vet. i assume s/he isn't a rabbit/exotics vet? :? i can't believe s/he didn't tell you that your bun needed a vet urgently. :? and told you what to do when the bun hadn't been checked over for a blockage etc...

I dont know what her specialism is she was home for the holidays and she advised that as long as she was still eating and drinking a little then to see her through the night and to take her to the vets the next morning. As i said in an earlier post she had perked up again and had passed a fair amount of poop. It is much easier now with hindsight to reflect on decisions made at the time. Obviously it was the wrong decision and I must live with that, I guess I was also trying to keep Christmas day as normal as I could for my children.

It's difficult sometimes I know but my attitude is always if you're in any way concerned about their behaviour or health - immediate vets.

I agree I've sometimes paid a ridiculous amount of money to be told it's nothing too serious but better safe than sorry I guess.

I'm so sorry you lost her
