Scabs

New Kit
Hi,

I was wondering if someone could give me some advise. We have a 6month old, conti who lives outside. Yesterday I noticed that on the back of his neck he has some very sore looking scabs. They are red and some are crusty. He's eating and still seems lively, but the fur is missing from this area (which is about 2 inches).

Can anyone advise on what we can do to or what may have caused the scabs?

He may have some sort of mite??
If the scabs were on his face I would worry.....
Does he live with another bun as he could have been bitten... or have you a cat who maybe getting a bit too close??
Has he squeezed under somewhere and been scratched by a plant or something??

Ok - I was asking as sometimes they can have a reaction at the site of the vaccine.

If that is not the case then I suspect mites although such large scabs seems unusual.

He needs to see a vet asap - and he also NEEDS to have his vaccines. Every 6 months for myxomatosis and every year for VHD. These are VITAL for ALL buns - indoor and outdoor.Myxomatosis is a dreadful dreadful disease which cases huge suffering and death. It is carried by biting insects such as mozzies that are now around all year.

Discuss this with yur vet whilst you are having his scabs looked at:):)
