  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

HELP! Fleas!!

Rae033

Young Bun
We got our rabbits Neutered today..when we went to check for swelling/redness we found 1 flea on one of our flemish boys, we used a flea comb and checked really well. We know they did NOT have fleas before they went to the vets. We searched all over and did not find anymore (or so we didnt see anymore) We didnt want to put them in too much stress, because they just got home from the vets. We currently have 4 house bunnies that are housed around eachother, 2 of which are under 6 months of age. We have never had any fleas in our house and never seen a flea on any of our rabbits. We have been searching the internet and there is just too many clashing answers to really know what we should do. The last thing we want is a flea investation in our house! PLEASE let us know whatever we should use/do/not do. We are not expierenced with fleas and we dont want to put our rabbits in any harm. Any help/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks so much!! :(
