  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Spot on???

:wave:Hello, just a quick question. I've been using Spot On (from my local pet store) for my boy bunny with no problems and he has lovely skin and masses of fur with no little visitors of any kind! He now has a little girlfriend, who at the time was too young for the Spot On treatment so I did him and not her - now she is 6 months old and yep, you guessed it, has fur mites  She has lost some fur on her back and next to her tail. We took them to the vet and they have given both buns their own spot on treatment for the next 3 weeks. We decided to have them both treated as if one has it the other one will most lightly have them too (don't worry, as the last Spot On I used on my boy bun was 4 months ago). Do you thing the pet shop Sopt On really works, as if so I'll make a note to do them both every 4 months. She has recently been spayed and her husbun was neutered a year ago. Many thanks everyone :D

Vets can give you much stronger stuff. The pet shop versions, in my opinion, are okay at preventing them getting mites etc, but if they do get them aren't much good at getting rid of them
