Richard graduated from Liverpool University in 1994 and obtained his certificate in Zoological Medicine in 2001. He has worked in general small animal practice and exotic animal referrals. He has written a number of articles on rabbits in the veterinary press and co-authored "Notes on Rabbit internal medicine". He has lectured on rabbits to vets in both the UK and Europe.

Sharon Redrobe is the Head of Veterinary Services at Bristol Zoo Gardens, responsible for the veterinary care for over 12,000 animals of 350 species including mammals, reptiles, fish, birds and invertebrates. Sharon has worked exclusively with exotic species for over 12 years and holds the RCVS Diploma in Zoological Medicine and is a Recognised Specialist. Sharon holds an honorary senior lectureship at the University of Bristol. She has published many journal and book articles including two chapters in the BSAVA Manual of Rabbits and is the co-editor of the new BSAVA Manual of Exotic Pets. Sharon has spoken at numerous conferences including the British Small Animal Veterinary Association, British Veterinary Zoological Society, World Small Animal Veterinary Association, Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, American Association of Zoo Veterinarians and European Association of Zoo and Wildlife Veterinarians. In 2004 Sharon supervised the first RWF Veterinary Resident at Bristol Zoo Gardens and Bristol University and continues with the second from 2007.

Ian qualified in 1992 after completing the first “exotic animal” elective to be run at Liverpool University. He has worked with rabbits and other “exotics” throughout his career, including a period researching cheetah in the Serengeti.
He is involved in the set up and running of the UK’s first dedicated rabbit clinic, works with the veterinary teams at Bristol Zoo Gardens and Paignton Zoo Environmental Park. He is also responsible for rabbit and “exotic” teaching on both Veterinary and Veterinary Nurse & Practice Administration degree courses and on-site supervision of the RWF Resident in Rabbit & Zoo Medicine.
