Rosie

marvy

Warren Scout
One of my bunnies ( rosie) was off colour a couple of weeks ago, She has back pain so we put it down to that, but the amount of metacam given suggested otherwise .., she developed a lump under her ear .. she had 3 abcsesses and the vet flushed them, but he said at the time that the abcsess' are too deep,as close to her jaw , i needed to flush the opening three times daily, did that, last week she had her check and he had to flush more out, when i took her today, i thought that the worst was over, as not much puss came out and what followed was blood, he said that abcsesses in rabbits are hard to treat, he re opened the hole and lots of puss came out and it also came out of her ear! He said he would flush it again and pack the wound with anti biotics, she has that done on thur morning - but he implied that referal to a specialist would give us the same results. ( pointless in other words, when swab taken initially the vet said it would show the anti biotics to treat her - but all that they said was it showed pasturella! when asked again today the vet said, that is cos all bacteria/infection in rabbits comes back as pasturella??)

Please help me, we love rosie as she is one of our family, any experienced bunny owners, vets or vet nurses who can PLEASE PLEASE help me.

Poor Bun
Ear abscesses/infections are very nasty and extremely difficult to get rid of

What antibiotics is Rosie on now ?

Is she also on a topical antibiotic ear treatment ?

Is she having pain relief ?

Has the Vet taken skull radiographs to determine the extent of the infection and if there is boney involvement (osteomyelitis) ?

Has your Vet mentioned further surgery ?

Sorry for all the questions but a bit more information would be helpful :)
