Going Away for Weekend

Oracle

New Kit
I am planning a weekend away and I have nobody who I can guarantee will be able to feed my four rabbits whilst I am away. I am planning to leave on Friday evening and return around Sunday lunchtime.

Advice please.

Well you obviously can't leave them. You will have to put them in boarding if you dont have anyone to come round to see to them.

Where abouts are you?

Have you tried parents, friends, family, people on facebook?

And surely if not there are some animal boarding places near you? If not a rabbit specialist one then there's bound to be an all animal one.

You can't just leave them to starve

You could ask your vets if they know and good pet sitters or boarding places.

You can't just leave them, even if you leave lots of food because no one will notice if they get sick, and rabbits can get very seriously ill in a matter of hours. Also they will probably just gorge themselves if you leave extra food, which will more than likely make them poorly.

Yeah, they do gorge themselves no matter how much you give them

I am quite sure that you have no intention of just leaving them. I understand that its tough, its not like getting the neighbours in to feed the cats, bunnys need so much more than that. It is something that I have ben thinking about because sooner or later, we will also want to go away together too. I was thinking of starting such a thread on the site.

What does everyone else do?

My o/h lost his job a couple of months ago, I said perhaps we should look at starting somthing along these lines. Like I said, bunnys are very special and finding someone who doesnt think, ''for gods sake, its only a rabbit'' is really tough.

yes maybe we could set up a RU rabbit sitting club :D

its difficult but I would suggest either a friend or family and leave a advice book for them or boarding..

if you can tell us where you are maybe someone here could have them for the weekend, if your near Crawley in West Sussex I would be happy to add them to the gang here!

Hi, I take my bunnies to bunny boarding, Sunnydays are great if you're anywhere near the A12 Maldon? Last time I went away Daisy got sick and they rushed her to the vets, she wouldn't be here now if they hadn't done that! bunny boarding isn't expensive only about £5 a night it's so worth it for peace of mind!
