  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

It looks like one of my buns is doing smaller poos than normal but they are both still eating loads, running about, really lively etc....any thoughts?

My Saffy just had the same kind of irregular poos as your bun. I got her to the vet and found she had a tooth in the back that needed a serious trimming. It's odd, isn't it? Saffy was eating well, too!
Apparently, small, dark poos can also mean dehydration.
Saffy's gut was somewhat solid so the vet also gave her some fluids and allowed her to come home as she was eating and drinking well.
Her tummy softened up and her poos were getting back to normal by that evening.
A trip to the vets is always best. Had I just left Saff, I could have lost her.

Thankyou everyone

I wondered about dehydration so I've been feeding them extra grass and popped a bit of avipro in their water (they love the taste)

I'm pretty sure it's Skye, I will be keeping a close eye on here and might nip to the vets for a teeth check tomorrow "just in case" :)

It sounds so much like a dental problem - molar spurs.
I'd get him checked by the vet.
Fingers crossed for you.

she's never out of her hay box, she's always munching away :?

I saw her grinding her teeth just now though so we will be off to the vet presently. wish I'd done it yesterday to save the £130 but at least it will be a lesson to me :lol: wish her luck please x
