Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Blocked syringes!

Mad Bunster

Has anyone got any tips for unblocking prefilled syringes please? I've got duphapen (mixed with water) to give Maddie, but all my syringe nozzles seem to be blocked. I've shaken them to mix the abx and the water, but they're still blocked solid! One has ended up blowing the sharpe off as I had a feeling something wasn't right, so didn't put it anywhere near Maddie, but tried forcing the plunger down and the tip shot off!

Am I just going to have to ask for some fresh ones? Or is there a secret to it?

Thanks!

Sorry, i mean I've got the syringes prefilled and they have the needle already on the end (one for each). Its the needle bit that seems to have a blockage as I can move the plunger bit ok until a certain point, then it won't budge.

Ditto what jane said...buy a load of needles off the internet so you can swap for a new needle immediately prior to doing the injection

Ahh - brilliant, I'll get some of those thanks. I've had about 20 of these to do and its only the last batch that I've had trouble with, strange.

Thanks ladies!
