Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I was refilling Jims potty the other day and when I grabbed a handful of the dried grass- burgess I found a long black fluffy feather, is it still ok to use the rest of the bale? OH said it is fine so have been using it but am worried I shouldnt be.

I'd email the company and say your not happy... did you say Burgess?? They are always really good at sending a replacement if you are not totally happy. I suppose if it is only a feather it should be ok?? Check through the rest of the hay to make sure there isnt anything else in there......

I get bales of Farm hay and am constantly finding things like feathers, horrible spikey plants (which they love) in there.
I'd deffinitely complain to the company though.
It's up to you whether you want to use it.

Well I have been using it the past few days at least 3 days after finding it so I guess I should just put it out of my mind now.

It will be fine. I am fairly sure no-one picks feathers and different plants out of the grass for wild bunnies! lol

Yeah, absolutely fine....my bun finds all sorts out and about and I've even seen him pick up feathers from the ground himself (then I drag them from his mouth !! LOL)

To be fair it would be pretty much impossible to produce bales of hay and similar products without a single 'foreign body' of some sort in them - fields are bound to have all manner of bits and pieces floating around.
