Last night i had a phone call from a lovely lady who was extemely worried about her next door neighbours rabbit :( Now, the next door neighbour is severly autistic and he apparently came home recently with said bunny from his church group :?

He was keeping bunny outside in an indoor rabbit cage with nothing apart from grass cuttings :cry: Mary could see how bad the rabbit was, she went out and bought hay/food etc for it but the man couldnt understand why the rabbit needed these and kept saying all he needs is grass  She had tried approaching rescues in the area but theres very few and all are full to bursting, hence her getting my number. Mary has just came out of hospital after having surgery and was going to take her to a local childrens farm, who of course said they would take her for free

I went to collect bunny last night and oh my  He is infact a she. Her claws were so overgrown they had curled underneath and the 2 dew claws had actually cut into her skin  Her eyes are terrible, i think she may have dental problems because of the bad diet :( And underneath she is totally urine stained :? She smells really badly :(

Shes off to the vets tomorrow at 10am for a health check and hopefully her myxi jab if all is ok :? Im really worried about her eyes though :(

She hasnt been anywhere near any of my other bunnies, shes been in the kitchen and ive been changing clothes etc after handling her. I will hopefully get her well (i think she needs a diet  ), vaccinated and speyed and then she will be looking for a forever home :) xXx

awwwwwww, what a stunner!

Quite a story too - pretty irresponsible of the church group to give the rabbit (where was it before?!) to a guy who clearly isnt capable of meeting its needs!

Hope her eyes etc clear up soon. She's very lucky to have been rescued by you!

She would go nice with your girls Vikki ;) ;) Apparently the member of the church group who gave it him breeds them :( :( God knows how when she cant even sex them properly

She is lovely, like an up eared version of my Moses

Hope they don't find any serious problems tomorrow and she will soon be fighting fit :)

Good luck little bunny. Was she like this... eyes/claws when he was given her?
The guy can't help it but those who gave her to him have no excuse!

Agree with the above ...can't blame the lad as he won't fully understand the amount of care rabbits need...my sons Autistic....but that of the person who gave him the rabbit...should have known better, I'm not saying Autistic people or anyone with special needs shouldn't be allowed to have pets...infact animals are good for socialising skills etc BUT he at least should have been properly supervised and educated how to look after the bunny ...good for you though rescuing her:D
