Slightly mucky bum in French lop X doe

Rykat

Mama Doe
Any idea what can cause a mucky bum when nothing has been changed?

One of my buns (May) is approx 6, she's a black french lop cross.

Got her out earlier to be groomed and her bum was mucky, she has no sign of diarrohea so much be caecotrophs, I trimmed the fur and cleaned her up but any idea what may have caused it?

She has a bald area of skin on her tummy above her bits, but it isn't inflamed. I've trimmed the fur on the inside of her legs, base of tail etc.

I'm wondering if she has a bit of arthritis which is hindering her cleaning? That said she manages to hop onto the 2nd level fine.

She's fine in every other respect.

Arthritic pain is definately a possibility as is discomfort in her mouth (from molar spurs)

Is she passing normal hard faeces ?

What is her diet ?

Hi Jane

She is fed SS, with unlimited hay, veggies every few days as that does give her an icky bum and spring gree.

She does loads of huge frenchy size solid poos.

I'd get the Vet to check her over as she's of an age/breed to have molar problems and also of an age for some arthritic changes in her spine.

The other thing that can stop a Bun eating their caecals is stress- stress from predators, from noise (Fireworks at this time of year), from a change in the dynamics of a bond etc....

There wasn't a huge amount, probably 5p size but was caught in the fur hence the trim, I just start worrying when there is a change in any of them :?

I'm going to book them all in for their 6 month myxi jab in the next week but will try to get her in for a quick check up tomorrow or day after.

She's never had teeth problems so far but I know this can change.

She is a single bun after her partner died and she refused to bond with any of the others, but that was over 4 months ago.
