  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

hi i wonder if any 1 can help, my rabbit is shaking and is not eating any food its all hunched up in the corner of the cage
would be grateful for any help

Could be a number of things, I would phone the vet right away, if you phone your usual vet they should have an out of hours number to call.

I really wouldn't wait until morning, buns can go downhill quickly..

Yip, call the Vets and take bunster there asap!
Rabbits can deteriorate very quickly.
Vibes for bunster x

the vets are closed and the closest 1 is in Manchester and i don't drive any think i can do for it until tomorrow

Cant you get a friend or family member to drive you to the Vet ?
It really is essential that your Rabbit receives treatment as tomorrow may well be too late

it does sound like your rabbit needs a vet , is there anymore info you can give ? when did it stop eating ? what has it been eating until now ? any other signs of illness ?

 I would ring them and try and call one out even, or maybe a nurse? Sounds like it could be serious shaking and hunched, is the bun grinding teeth?

It would be worth keeping it warm, offering fluids and preferred food to see if he/she will eat? Keep it calm and quiet and reasonably dark but, you do need professional examination. Hope it will be alright.
