  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

I have never seen anything like that before. It could be a hernia maybe? Or a bite wound that is inflammed. Where abouts on the belly is it? Does he live with other rabbits?

no it dosnt live with any other rabbbits at all. We adopted it from someone that didnt want it and after about a week of my mom looking after it this lump appeared!!!!!! sorry its right in the middle of his belly

So how long has he had the lump? Is the bleeding/got any puss around it? Could he have caught himself on anything?

He really needs to see a vet to get it sorted.

no he is definately a he as he has all the bits:). he may have caught himself i really dont know. his old home was on a forest floor so i really dont know. i will take him to vets tommoro and let you al know, Great first day of adoption and we have vets fees- oh well . thanks.

ok taken him to the vets and she said that its just warts and not to worry about. they can be taken off but an operation would be need but it isnt necessary and they are not causing him any discomfort.
She did however tel me that he may be suffering from mites as he has no hair on his neck!! i thought this was maybe normal!!!! so he has had his treatment for that and we will see how he goes.
thankyou for all your help on this topic tho.
