  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

i spoke to the receptionist at my vets last week about some panacur liquid or lapizole. she said its not available but they could maybe order me some in and to carry on using paste for my buns.

am i being daft or is the panacur liquid the same stuff they give to dogs, cats, horses etc?:?

Yes

You can buy it online and its MUCH cheaper than from a Vet

The dose rate for Panacur 10% liquid is 0.2ml/kg/day

thanks jane. this is the info i have written down but being told 'no' made me doubt myself. again. :D

(i have a cunning plan of putting it on a fenugreek crunchie, leaving that to dry overnight then voila!!! eric WILL have taken it - i hope:roll: ezzie eats anything and everything but he's a pain in the bum)

you can also get lapizole on line without prescription. not sure if it works the same if it dries out on a crunchie though.

oh poo:( sure i read a post from an ru member saying they squeezed it into a mini shreddie or something, left it to dry overnight and the buns were none the wiser when they were given their treat next morning.
