Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

post neutering help

New Kit
hi there,

had my 6 month french lop neutered yesterday - checked the wound today and he's pulled out all the glue so there is just an open incision on each side (no scab formed or anything). I'll take him back to the vet in the morning, but wondering if anyone has any suggestions other than the dreaded plastic collar - tried this on a previous rabbit i had and she got really distressed, couldn't drink or eat as couldn't reach properly and kept whacking her collar on things - this bunny has huge ears, i think it will be uncomfortable for them to be restricted by a collar?

Thanks

Deary me I can't suggest whether the collar would work but it may be worth trying to clean the wound a wee bit with some sterile water if possible (boil a kettle and leave the water to cool). Is the bunny constantly checking/licking the wound?
