  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Pumpkin is poorly!

Carob

I wonder if anyone could tell me what could be wrong with Pumpkin, he is an eight year old nethie and today he is off his food and lying flopped out a lot.
His eyes seem clear but we think he may have a runny nose it's a little hard to tell but the main thing he is that sits flopped out a lot. We have not seen any poohie squits, all that area seems to be normal. He is in our lounge at the moment as we wonder if he is cold and we think he may have lost some weight. He will be going to the vets if there is no improvement soon.
Thanks in advance!

Well no one has replied so I have come to my own conclusion that he had mild gut stasis this morning as he seems to have improved

Glad he is improving on his own :) If he is still a bit quiet you could maybe give him a tummy massage. If i suspect mine has a bit of gassy tummy or something that makes them like your bunny then i do this. Is he eating ok ?

Is he still off his food? Is he passing any droppings at all?

Thanks Diddeen and Pretty lupin for replying! He seems ok now hubby did a tummy rub and he has been poohing and eating like mad!:D

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier. I'm glad he seems to be improving anyway. A vet check up would still be a good idea if he is losing weight and has a runny nose as there may be something going on xx
