Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

behaviour after neutering

Hi all, sorry if this has already been asked but have searched and can't find answers.

Had both my boys neutered today. Both a bit sleepy but seem to be doing well so far. They are eating grass, carrot and the odd bit of hay and drinking loads. So far no pooing or weeing though! When would you expect to see this? Do I need to contact the vet do you think?

They came home at 5.30 and have been eating bits ever since. They have now both done loads of poos all over their cages though! :D very healthy looking ones too! Still not weeing but they are drinking loads and loads as if they are really thirsty or dehydrated.

The GA will dehydrate them.

They are doing the right things by eating and drinking, and now you have seen poos, the wee will come with time. Be patient :)

Thanks for your replies. Think I'm just being a bit over protective and worrying!

Barney has just binkeyed all over his cage and the vet said try to keep them still and quiet for 24 hours!!! He will burst his wound at this rate, he has other ideas than the vet clearly!

If his cage is big it might be worth blocking it off somehow so that he gives his bits some chance to heal.

It sounds like they are doing awesomely though.

Yeah I am really pleased with them now, plus they haven't been grumpy with me either... I've been getting lots of bunny licks from both of them. Thats a good idea about the cage, I'll see what I can do. Thanks.
