Need some advice

Snowberry

Wise Old Thumper
Snowdrop is going to see FHB tomorrow and I have a few questions. She has a consultation at 10.15am, if they decide to do an xray (which im 99% certain she needs) will they do it the same day? Will I need to take my own food incase they keep her in?

I have decided to leave Strawberry at home. I nipped to our local vets with him in the car the other day and he was really scared and it was only 2 minutes so I dont think its fair to stress him going all the way there. Plus he is so boistrous I dont think being confined to a small cage would do him or Snowdrop any good. Do people think I have made the right decision?

Anyone know anything good to go in the York area incase they do xray her same day as I will want to hang about so I can see her when she has come round.

I don't think it would hurt to take some food in case they do need to keep her in. Whether they x-ray her the same day will possibly depend on whether she will need to be sedated/anaesthatised for it, and how booked up they are for ops. It's a bit difficult to say, to be honest :?

I do understand why you've decided to leave Strawberry at home - it's such a tough call isn't it, I know we're told to always take the other partner but you know your bunnies best. I know that if Dudley ever needed to go in, I would leave Santa at home because I know what she's like and I know it would have a significant negative effect on her.

Hope things go well tomorrow xx

They used to give me a menu to fill in at FHB's when the bunny stayed but last time they just said that they give them a selection of whatever is going. On the menu they had SS and Excel pellets, kale and spring greens, dandelions and grass, carrots etc - all the usual bunny stuff. I took a spring green leaf with Esme first time I used them as I didn't know the score but as a bunny specialist they have loads of bunny food there to tempt them with.

Artie and Rudy have both had conscious abdominal xrays but not sure if they are looking in the same area/from same angle with Snowdrop. When Artie had his bladder problems they xrayed him whilst I was in the waiting room (I went back in for another consult about half an hour later when they had the results of the xray)

If it's Harrogate you're going to (I'm guessing it is) where the surgery is there isn't a great deal to do as it's in a small town area on the outskirts of Harrogate but it's only a ten minute drive to the centre where there's loads to do.

Yep its Harrogate. I am not sure what will happen and, as someone who needs to be organised, I am struggling! I hate the not knowing and cant think about anything else tonight now as im stressed that I dont know whats going to happen tomorrow,

I hope that she will only need an abdominal xray and that I will be able to bring her home tomorrow evening, but I know its unlikely.

I know exactly what you mean about needing to know even though you are aware that's not an option! I would rate your chances as fairly high of hanging around for a couple of hours and bringing her home again - Rudy and Artie have both been xrayed for bloat/not eating episodes therefore stomach/intestine areas have been xrayed (to check for blockages also), I would think it's likely to be the same area that Snowdrop will be having xrayed, so if she can be xrayed conscious they would no doubt prefer to do it that way.

Hope you can anyway, it will be a lot less stressful for both of you. I also hope Frances manages to tell you what's going on and can help her (She's lovely, you'll be so glad you've gone there!)

Oh, as for things to do in Harrogate - Betty's Tea Rooms is a star attraction, it would be a good place to waste a few hours with best tea and buns in Yorkshire ;)

Thanks for that. Going to take loads of planning with me to do and will go find the tea rooms and take a pew for a few hours.

I hope we get some idea of what is happening to Snowdrop, as I knew she would she is bright as a button and forming fairly normal faeces at the minute. She always picks up as soon as a vet appointment comes round!

I am also hoping my credit card will stretch to cover the cost of any treatment she needs before I claim it back from the insurance.
