Vet in West Yorkshire area!

Jaysmonkey

Wise Old Thumper
After my recent episode with my vet. I'm looking for a new vet; rabbit savvy ideally. I need a good reliable vet, where the treating vet doesn't change every single visit:shock:

I live in Liversedge, West Yorkshire. So does anybody please know any good vets around Dewsbury, Leeds, Huddersfield or Bradford way? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance :) and thanks from the munchkins!

Donaldson's and Partners? I've never had a problem with them. They have multiple branches in West Yorkshire.

Holly House were excellent with my Mediterranean Spur-thighed Tortoise Herbie. I knew they were a very good exotic vet, wasn't sure how their base was with other animals. Will have a look into it. Thanks very much! :)

I go to Calder Vets - the good thing about them is that they are 24 hours, they can be pricy but they are better than some of the others around.

I went to Calder, Lola is registered with them and so is Max, due to a 10pm emergency declaw .

But when they did Lola's spay yonks ago, I was very unimpressed. Lola was in a very sorry state to say the least. Thats what put me off them, the other vet I used was Sage; and thats where I'm trying to steer away from.

Thanks anyway. The price isn't really the issue, they're my babies so I wouldn't mind paying any price for them! :D

I have never had a problem with them - but then they didnt do smokie's spay. There is one vet (their small animal specialist) who is the best.

I guess its difficult as my sister takes her cats to Richmond - but the one time I had to take them for her I hated it compared to Calder
(PS didnt mean to imply that price was a big issue - I feel the same about my two!)

Ahh don't worry about it, I didn't feel that that was what you were implying!
Thanks again :)

Vet in Bradford

I use Northcote vets on Otley Road, Bradford BD2 (just past Undercliffe cemetery). 01274 632222.

Prices about average based on feedback on this site. I have never had cause for concern and have been a regular visitor for years with (currently) 6 cats, 6 buns and assorted smaller furries. The buns go for vaccs, neutering and one elderly bun has multiple problems and regular molar dentals.

The waiting room is smallish but the staff know their stuff or will find out on the rare occasion if they don't know. Parking is OK down the side street.

I had a spay done there and numerous dentals and other mouth type stuff. Sarah Brown who works there was always really helpful and was never too short of time to answer my endless questions :)

I use Holly House - I was recommended them on here and they are really good. So far Buddy has had both his VHD/Myxi vaccs done there, and on Saturday he is being neutered, so fingers crossed. :) Sarah Brown is excellent - she gives some great advice and really knows her stuff. :D

I used to use Tower Wood on a few occasions when my hamster fell ill, however I got the impression that they weren't very thorough and I didn't feel they knew what they were doing. But they might be good with rabbits, I don't know :)

Abbey house in Morley is expensive but good for emergencies

Vets4Pets in Wakefield also seems good

I use Holly House in Leeds for my chinchillas. I have a dental chin, Milly, who has to have a dental every couple of months. Sarah Brown is fantastic and has worked wonders with Milly. Milly has severe dental issues and initially the prognosis was very poor.....we thought we'd only have a matter of weeks left with her, but a year on, with regular dentals, she is still going strong.

I cannot recommend Holly House highly enough.

I had to go to Abbey House yesterday for an emergency appointment with Truffle - I was very impressed with them, although they did say themselves that for complex problems they would always suggest you see a specialist, which implies they are not (the vet did say she loved rabbits though and was very interested in them. I think acknowleging their limits is a good sign). They seemed much more clued up than my normal vets (which I am considering changing).
