  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Fudge isn't able to eat much or drink, I've just started syringing him water (have given him 4mls) but how much should I be giving him and how often? He weights around 2kg I think.

We're not long back from the vets and he's going back in first thing in the morning.

He isn't sure. Fudge has snuffles and is on baytril and metacam. The problem seems to be with his mouth, when he trys to drink he can't then moves his jaw from side to side. He wasn't given fluids. His mouth was checked and there is a small spur that he could see.

Thanks. He is still pooing but some are small, he'll get his pain relief soon then i'll be with him through the night. Hopefully Romain will get to the bottom of it tomorrow, I've changed to a very good rabbit vet :)

Good luck, I hope Fudge feels better very soon

She sounds very poorly and needs to see a vet urgently I'm afraid. Don't wait until tomorrow, it could be too late.
It could be lots of thing thing: gut stasis, bloat, dental problems.
Please take her to a vet xx
