Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

liquid poo!!!

Mole

Young Bun
because i have only just got my bunnys i dont know them when i was cleaning them i found real sloppy poo it wasent really liquid but wasent far off. they have just had al there diet changed very very quick is this why or is one ill?

Oh dear. Runny poo is not good in any bunny and especially a baby bunny, they can go downhill very fast as they quickly become dehydrated. I would get them both to the vets as an emergency.

Can you tell us how old the buns are?

Why have they had their diet changed so quickly?

What is their current diet and what was their previous diet.

there both 2 and there diet changed in one day because i was not told what they where on i gave them xtra veg to day could that be it and also there on 2 egg cups of mixed food and a hand full of veg and hay also some herbs

Whatever the reason for the liquid poop the problem is that they can quickly become dehydrated and very poorly.

Hiya,

Sudden change of diet can certainly cause runny poops. Take them off the pellets and veg and just keep them on hay. Once their tums have settled then you can introduce the pellets very slowly (over 7-10 days) and then veg in the same way.

Of course if the poo doesn't firm up, a vet trip would definitely be in order. Make sure your buns are getting lots of water and keep a good eye on them. Any signs of illness take them straight off to the vets :thumb:

Sorry, post got interrupted by kids asking for homework help!

I agree with loopylop, cut back to hay only, make sure they are drinking well, offer a bowl as well as a bottle and watch to make sure poops are going back to normal - if they are not or buns are listless, lethargic or you are worried in any way consult a good vet.

thanks

thanks its good that my vet is a bunny expert so i know there in good hands there if soming goes wrong
