  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

if i have to sepratet my pair of 2 year old females after spraying will they fight and if they have to be separated can you not split the hucth with chicken wire to prevent this?

after spaying, youre females should be fine, just have them spayed together, and keep them together during the healin process. if they are not seperated (except for surgery obviously!), they should be fine.

if for any reason they do fight, as in properly fight not just a bit of chasing, wire wont really help as they will be stressed and always try and get to each other.

but, if they are kept together im sure they will be fine so dont worry :)

ok because the vet said to wait abit before spraying because there all ready 2 and they need to settle in to there new home 1st other wise the stress might be too much

If they are already two years old and haven't fought I highly doubt they would, so I agree with your vet on letting them settle in first. They should be happy remaining together until the time is right.

HOWEVER, the main issue is the cancer risk, which is very common in unspayed does.

I'd give it a couple of weeks then book them both in at the same time.

There are plenty of threads with spaying advice on here so read through them over the next couple of weeks.
