Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

How Long in Nebuliser? HELP?

parsnipbun

Wise Old Thumper
We are nebulising Viola Rose in a sealed (obviously not totally!!) 'chamber' with nebuliser.

3 times a day the nebuliser comtains F10 (abx and anti -inflams), other 3 times just saline.

She seems to really appreciate being nebulised - holds her nose towards the incoming tube etc and t really loosens her nose congestion loads.

My question is but does anyone know if it matters if she stays in longer than the prescribed 15 mins??

Could we do 30 mins perhaps with the just saline????

The congestion is a BIG problem for her despite the other myxi symptoms being 'stable' (though not good).

On just saline I would think it would be OK to do it for longer if it is helping her.
But I am obviously only giving an unqualified opinion.

What about a humidifier for her environment when she's not in the nebulising chamber :?

Just a thought, would chopped up garlic be a possibility? I know it's really helpful with human respiratory congestion but don't know if it's safe for buns...:? As well as being natural and a decongestant, it's also an antibiotic too :)

I agree with Jane that you could do longer on just saline, i'm sure this would be ok. Can you give the vet a call and check? Good to hear it is helping her, that's really positive. She's a lucky bun to have such a caring mum. :)

What chamber are you using? I'm really interested in how it works because I didn't realise you could do this - do you have a link/photo?

I'm really sorry your bunny has myxi - must be horrible for you both. :(
