(please note that Ted sleeps in his cage, but that's it! He's not shut up at all in the day.)

She looks about 12 weeks old (and me sexing her as a girl...). She is really skittish and not extremely friendly. She hasn't tried to bite me at all so I'm guessing she has been handled, but hardly ever. I've put posters up but they have been torn down today so the chance of her being reunited with her mummy is low. I guess she was "thrown away".

Little bun and Teddy spent last night happy together, but today she woke him up from a big Frenchie sleep and they fought a bit....Monster Teddy coming worse off (Poor black bunny fur). He came and sat cuddled with me for an hour...my poor little (HAYOOGE) boy. Not used to girls!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do with her as I don't see a skittish little bun and a placid, constantly sleepy bun, getting on very well.

Does anyone have any advice how to get her to trust me?! I've only had friendly, happy buns.

Many thanks

You really should keep them apart for a while, as you don't know if she is healthy. Best take her to a vet for a check up, vaccinations and neutering. Ideally, both rabbits should be panacured for 28 days, just in case.

PS: The cat should be told off!:no:

She's lovely!

Keep in mind any new rabbit you don't know the history of should be quarantined away from your own rabbit for a couple of weeks!

 How did a cat manage to drag that around. It's not exactly mouse sized

Good point! Damn me and my sieve brain!! She looks well looked after but is going to the vet on Monday for a check up!

My dad has my spare indoor cage (which is rather small) so I'm getting that today. Will get pancur when I go to the vet with her!

I'm furious that someone could throw her away like that!! She's scared, but not nippy!

He's a very large cat. Not a scratch on her though! Well done Solomon!

Perhaps, Teddy asked Solomon to get him a friend because he got bored with being a single bunster.:lol:

i'm sure given time she'll learn to trust you,as you dont know her history you dont know what her home conditions were like, there may be a reason as to why she's "skittish".Lovely little girl though :D

Teddy's getting a big Frenchie sister in late Autumn...all things going well. He's really worried about the little bun and is a bit scared of her as she's so jumpy. He's about 5 times the size of her so it's rather amusing.

Are you not keeping her then?

RubyTed
04-09-2009, 03:33 PM
I'm seeing how it goes. I'm still hoping her owners are going to turn up. I'd love to put her with Hugo and Rose but as my mum is adamant they are staying with her and not coming with me I think she'd not like another bun. She's going to annoy the hell out of Ted as he is a Frenchie and she is to bouncy. I don't want either to get hurt, but think she'll benefit from another bun as a friend to show her how to be a bun.

What are your thoughts?

What are your thoughts?

I'm not a bonding specialist so if I intended to keep her and bond her with my bunny, I would ask a rescue to do the bonding for me. I'm not sure if the size difference matters. I suppose, if Teddy decides to hump:oops: her, she'll be in trouble.

The way I've been told is that size isn't a big deal but it's temperament that is the deciding factor. Frenchies are so placid that if they're housed with a bouncy bun they get annoyed and could fight. If I wasn't to keep her then I wouldn't take her to a rescue...they have far too many buns needing homes but *think* I know someone who is looking for a little girl to bond with their buck. My father in law has been after a bunny for three years too, so there are options. (I'm becoming rather attached to the little bunny with no name!)

...Oh my G...What if she's pregnant?! This could be lots of trouble!

I really hope she's not pregnant. I also hope you will find a new home for her (even if the 'new home' is yours ;)) Well done to you and to Solomon for rescuing her. :)

I'm impressed he didn't hurt her at all. She could be a really lovely bun if we can stamp out her fear. When I go up to her pen she shuffles and looks uncomfortable, but when I'm sitting in the same room she's nomming well (not seen her drink yet, but I'm not there all the time).

I really hope she isn't pregnant too! I have no idea how to cope with that!

*oooooh...she just did a flop! She has to be a happy little bun after all!*

Little Jacinta is around about 12 weeks and is extremely skittish and nippy, but she's getting better and I'm hoping that neutering will make a big difference.

She looks gorgeous - definately worth trying a bond post-neuter:love:

She is a little beauty. Ted isn't so sure!! My poor boy, doesn't know what to do with himself!

Yvette...you're welcome anytime!! G thinks I'm getting attached (which I am...!) but I have to think about both of them. If they aren't a good match then they shouldn't be together and would be better with other mates! I'd rather two happy bunnies than two bunhoppy ones!

What a sweetie...you have a very pretty bunny there! Little bun is nameless...otherwise I know I'll never let her go! If I was to bond them then I'll try before she gets *****-moans. Otherwise Ted won't accept her as he's very dominant. (He can be such a moose!)

Try the police and RSPCA. You could also put flyers up in local shops and your vet

I'm going to put it up in the shop and the vets when I get her looked at, but don't want the police involed. I'd rather she got a good home rather than going through all the faff...I have a feeling that she was unwanted as the posters got pulled down.

If she was missing though, some people go to the Police

Ho matter how attached I get I still hope they do come forwards...otherwise they got rid of her, which is far worse

We found her mummy!! *Woop!!*

She was very worried about her little bun, Pickle! She's collecting her tomorrow. Poor Ted is going furless so I think he'll be happy! I, whilst happy she was missing and not thrown away, will miss her! She's left a little reminder on my jumper...It has holes in it now!!

My poster (which I had to re-put-up!) I didn't put what she looked like or how old she was. So I'm sure it wasn't someone trying to score a free bunny!

I'd be devastated!!...and wouldn't stop till I got him back!!! She hasn't been handled enough!! That's for sure. I might attempt to give them a few tips as the poor girl is terrified of anything that moves!! (including herself!)

My young rabbit is like that too, if you walk past his hutch, even if you are at the other side of the garden, he runs and hides. He's fine when I pick him up though, and he loves a nose rub. :)

Im sure my rabbit, and her's will improve over time :)
