My bunnies are fighting :(

I know I posted a few weeks ago about Ebony trying to give Oliver a bit of a humping and then there being a bit of a chase but they've just had 4 big fights with each other!

They were running around binkying and Ebs laid down and Oliver carried on. He sort of bounced off her while he was binkying. Then they started chasing each other and fighting!

I separated them and they went off to the bathroom where I heard more scuffling so I ran in to separate them. They were almost rolling around on the floor together, I can't really describe it

After I separated them that time they both went off to sit under my bed (which is where they usually spend all their time during the day) and they had another fight under there, teeth and everything!

I've brought them both into the living room and shut the door now so I can keep an eye on the pair of them but I left to wash the banana mush off my hands and in the few seconds I was gone they started chasing each other again. Oliver is now sat in the the litter tray and Ebs is sat in the corner

My house looks like there's been some sort of predator in here or something as there is so many tufts of fur laid around everywhere! I've checked them both over for wounds and so far they seem to be okay but what should I do?

Hi Rachie  .. I'm by no means an expert and still have much learning to do as I only started about 4 months ago with rabbits. I have two min lops aged 6 months and two rexes aged 6 months and 3 months. The older rex was doing this to the one lop and causing big fights between the three. We separated the rex from the lops and got the lops spayed about 2 wqeeks ago. They are well bonded now and doing fine. But the rexes keep trying to mount each other and fighting. The older rex recently bit quite a chunk out of the baby which really horrified me. It healed up ok but we decided then and there to separate those two as well. Very costly I must say as I have had to buy 3 hutches in all to keep the peace. What we do at the moment is we allow the rexes to play together when we are with them but when we put them away, it's into their own hutches. We will probably not allow them to live together again until they are spayed. The older one is booked to be spayed end of this month. The younger one needs to wait a bit still. We keep up the socialising together so that they sort of remain bonded. Then as soon as the spays are all done .. the plan is for them to live together again. I just can't see any other way as I can't bare the fighting. It worries me that there will be severe injuries and the vet costs will soar. So right now this is working for us. Hope yours settle soon ;)

Thanks for the reply :) They're both spayed/neutered and don't really want to split them up (it wouldn't be easy or ideal to do until we move at the end of the month) but would realise I would need to if the fighting got too bad

They're leaving each other alone at the moment (both asleep at opposite ends of the room). Ebs has tried to make friends with him a few times but he chases her off.

I might pop them in the carrier later and take them out in the car

things are getting worse :(

Ebbie is now grunting/sort of making a wheezing sound and thumping at Oliver :(

oh no :(
Have you tried the carrier yet?

Hope things get better - keep in touch. I am not too far away if you need help.

Thanks Shel :)
I've took them on a magic mystery tour in the car and they were still avoiding in each other when I brought them back but I've got them eating hay together now :D Fingers crossed it continues!

I don't understand how its gone so horribly wrong today, I'm exhausted with them!

How long were the bunnies bonded for before this fighting started? I think I would treat them like a new bond again [neutral small area etc].I would worry about them fighting if I had to go out etc.
Hope it goes well for you

They've been bonded for 5 months ish now :)

Had a quiet night with them - I've got them shut in the bathroom as its the smallest space and there was grooming going on when I went for a wee this morning :D

If anything good can come from this is that Ebs has started to be more affectionate towards me

I'll take them out for another drive later
