Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Poor Presley

Hi
I was wondering if anyone had any advice. Presley is now 5 months old. I have had him since he was 6 weeks. He had an upset tum for the first few weeks which was solved by changing onto Science Selective. I moved house 2 weeks ago and he has had sticky poo ever since. The vet said to feed him only plain hay (not the nice timothy) and wait and see. His poo is now formed caecotrophes but he still isn't eating them. He is free range 90% of the time. very lovely, happy, chilled out bun who I love 2 bits!

Is there anything else I can do? Poor bun really doesnt like having his bottom washed! Thank you for reading

Presley

Hi

He has had nothing except hay for 7 days now. He is getting a probiotic in his water. I have banned him from the kitchen as he hoovers any crumbs.

I dont know what else to do...?

Thank you for your replies x

Presley

He has gained 200g in the weeks since his vaccination and has def grown, I havent given him fiberplex but I will order some if it may help. Its such a shame as he is so good and we were doing really well with the clicker training but I cant do it without his pellets! Also costing me a fortune in Megazorb as always misses the litter tray and spreads it everywhere in his house!

Thanks

U/D on Presleys Problem

Hi

Just thought I would let you know how Presley is getting on. I tried the Fiberplex but this didnt help. So I took him to the **** vet hospital here in Edinburgh and they are going to test him for parasites. I have spent all day waiting for him to have the sticky poo and typically he didnt; for the first time in a month!! Hmmmm.... we will see what tomarrow brings.

Also the rabbit specialist thinks "he" is a "SHE"....... I cant believe it! I have asked the vet to check each time he has been seen for vaccinations as I want to neuter him so he can have a friend! Im inclined to go with the specialist though!

It's not very reassuring that vets can't agree on whether s/he's a she or a he! Hopefully it will become obvious soon :)
