Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Rabbit not eating? And doesn't want to move?

Young Bun
I want to share with you guys something that i found out about a very comman cause of rabbit death; and thats not eating properly...

When my rabbit scamps feel ill we didn't know what was wrong with her.
Her symtoms were:
- huddled up in a corner
- doesn't want to eat
- grinding teeth
- not wanting to move
- not herself

. I first took her inside and then i studyed her on my bed for a total of 1 hour. I did tests, like seeing what she did when i came near (just looked at me) and when offering her her favourite snack (she wouldn't take it). Me and my mum came to a conclution, SHE WAS EMPTY.

IF YOUR RABBIT HAS ALL THESE SYMTOMS TAKE HIM/HER TO THE VET NOW!

The vet told us what the cause of this was...

About 2 days before she had a little upset tummy, and didn't want to eat, but the longer she stopped eating the worse, and then she gets more ill from NOT eating. The reason Scamps was gridding her teeth, was because she was in alot of pain, not matter what pain, RABBITS ALWAYS GRINNED THEIR TEETH IF THEIR IN PAIN

The vet gave her an injection and told us to temp her with her favourite treat, and that would get her stomach moving again, she was ok, and now back to normal, but rabbits are more likly to get it once they have had it once, so keep a look out

I hope this helps you if your rabbit is not his/herself.

Hi Heather.
Thank you so much for telling us about your poor bunny Scamps. I'm so sorry she was poorly and really pleased she's made a full recovery. You did very well to notice that something was seriously wrong with Scamp in time.

You have given us such a good description of the symptoms, I'm sure it will help a lot of people & their bunnies.
My bunny Thumper gets empty when his teeth hurt. He has to see the vet dentist.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your summer holidays & all goes well at school.
Judy & Thumper
