Mama Doe
We picked him up today.
This is what the rescue had to say about him:
Guiness has recently been adopted - but the family are unablee to cope with him because he is quite a scared boy who will need time to adjust to his new surroundings. They only gave him 2 weeks to settle in!
At the age of approximately 4/5 months Guinness was found abandoned on a farm. He was unsocialised, malnourished and very frightened of people. The local farmer threatened to shoot him so a local family living nearby took him on.
From then Guinness has made excellent progress. He is a loving, gentle, caring and very faithful dog towards any member of his family. He still remains unsure, sometimes even frightened, of the new and the unknown – people, places, sounds and situations.
He accepts other dogs but is not happy being on his own. Unfortunately, a change in his family's circumstances has caused them to have to move to a new home where dogs are not permitted.
Guinness displays very strong Border Collie traits – he loves herding animals but does not hurt them. He also loves playing frisbee. He knows to give a right and left paw, sit, stay, lie down, roll over and has learnt some very basic sheepdog commands. He is not food aggressive and is very gentle when taking food from hand.
Guinness requires a firm and consistent handler who understands Border Collies’ behaviour and needs. He certainly requires an active life to keep his busy brain and energetic body in good shape. Guinness is fully house trained. He is used to sleeping and living indoors having free access to in and outdoors via a dog flap.
Guinness will require company most of the time.
He is a good boy, obviously very fazed by everything.
He is scrumptious!
