  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My vet saw flea dirt on Beebee when he was at the vets thursday.I saw a flea today.(Hes a house bun and I have 3 cats....)Hes been prescribed Xenex...had 4 drops put on already.Theres a slight red patch on his skin where I applied it.Not going to use it again....saw a thread on here saying about this stuff.Scared the pants off me.If its not bad enough with the furball Liquid Paraffin treatment.Must admit hes doing well but am wondering if its working.Hes back to the vets monday.Gonna tell her Im not using that Xenex stuff...and Im now gonna look for a bunny savvy vets in Devon..near me.
I cant take any risks.....feeling so depressed for a while now, under MH team.Got lots of problems and my bunnies are a form of therapy.

I hope every thing turns out OK. You'll probably find a medication that works. It took me a while to find one for my buns! Thinking of you! xx

If it was Xenex ultra I would definitely not put it on your bun in the future...
Not sure why they still allow people to use this stuff!

I use stronghold on my buns :) It's not licensed to use on rabbits like most things, but it's perfectly safe on them. I use the cat version, and according to the manufacturer it's 0.1ml per KG.

Beebee fit and well.Tummy fine now and just the fleakies to deal with.vet said she will look into stronghold.Im gonna ask about the Advantage.
Thankyou for your advice.xxx
