Article in PBW News - "Pet Shops Should Not Be Immune From Animal Welfare Laws"

Don't know how likely it is that anyone on here has read the PBW News (Pet Business World) but there is an excellent article/letter regarding how pet shops are actually escaping from the law regarding providing vaccinations for rabbits (as their 'carers')

It states that The Pet Animals Act 1951 says:

"All animals must receive inoculations appropriate to their species".

written by Lisa Chapin, of Hutches and Crutches Pet Centre, Bolton Le Sands, Lancashire.

This is a very well written letter that lays out why pet shops should be made to vaccinate, and if by doing so the cost of purchasing a rabbit goes up then so be it as it would stop some people from just buying on impulse.

Her petition for those interested can be found here..... http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/petshops/

What about the 'for fun' breeders? Everyone I know that has a rabbit has gone to them, not a pet shop or rescue

:)And signed

I found one a while ago to, saying all cats, dogs and rabbits should be microchipped. Not only does it help when a loved pet goes missing, or is stolen, but in cruelty cases the animal can be linked to the owner.
