White Urine??

Lynne_Zeb

Young Bun
Hi all,

I havent been on here for ages as the mad physco bunny was momentarily behaving himself!!

However I would like to ask your advice on something....this morning when I got up I checked that Zeb had used his litter tray (he's decided he wants to keep me on my toes lately and try to find new places to pee!) and noticed that where he had wee'd it was white....like paint! I've never seen this before & not sure what it could be, Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Lynne x

It usually means excess calcium. It's not necessarily a problem, but if you review his food maybe cut down on things that have a lot of calcium in them.

Thanks for that timb0h...I'm not too sure what I could cut out, he has selective science pellets & hay mainly. He does have a mineral/salt block in his cage which I guess I could take out....

Does he not have any veg? It's often that that causes excess calcium, can't think off the top of my head which ones tho

I do give him veg occassionally but he tends to get a messy bum quite a lot so I try to keep him on the pellets & hay

Totally agree that white pee is caused by excess calcium.

Sounds like he doesn't like strong tastes. He may like dandelions, milk thistle, daisy leaves. Can grow seeds for tortoises with plenty of bunny weeds.

I notice he's on a dry diet. He needs to drink plenty to make enough wee to dissolve some of the calcium.
