Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

floppy ear

Young Bun
Hi all, my bunny has a floppy ear. ;-( I'm hoping some of you may have had experience of something similar with your bunnies? On Monday I noticed my bunnies right ear was floppy, he almost looked like a lop...which he isn't, he is a harlequin rabbit. I took him to the vet, and he was flumoxed. He couldn't find any sign of an injury, and Fudge (the bunny) will let you touch the ear, so he doesn't seem to be in any pain. The vet gave him an injection for mites.

Any help greatly appreciated, I just feel sorry for Fudge, and I'm really worried that it is eventually going to get him down.

Dunno if it's any help but my buns ears are sometimes floppy, sometimes straight, sometimes one up one down

Maybe it's just one of those things??

yeah, maybe, but you know when you just know it's not normal because you know your bunny so well? If rabbits had bones in their ears, you would almost say it was broken.

I hope he gets better soon.

Hmm, maybe, but I think it's something different. I am going to take him to the vet again tomorrow, it's really concerning me now.

Thanks everybody.
