a wee question aboot bonding

I have a male aged 9 months and I'm getting him a wife, he is the friendliest little mini lop and she is the same.
Right now he has a whole shed to himself and comes in at night for a while to socialise with us.
His wife is only 10 weeks old so I'm worried he might hurt her.
Plan is to have her in a hutch inside the shed so they can have a sniff and take it from there. Is this wise or not? Any thoughts please?

I am assuming that, as she is only 10 weeks she is not yet spayed. I would not bond until she is spayed. She will probably be alright for now but once she hits maturity she may become very aggressive and hurt your male.

That thought did cross my mind. Meantime could she stay in a hutch inside the shed with him with me taking her out at times for run time? or should I have her completely out of his site?

When I got Charlie a wife she was about 11 weeks when I got her, and he was a year. They were both in the same room but they were in my bedroom where I could keep an eye on them. I'd be wary about leaving them where they could get contact though the bars incase they managed to nip one another.
I bonded mine before Mable was bonded, which I probably shouldn't have done but I am glad I did now so they got to spend some time together.

I'm thinking close supervised contact too. I really want them to be a couple.

The thing is aswell, if they are bonded before she is spayed they will need to be separated again while she goes in for the op and recovers and i would not recommend separating a bonded couple as it could lead to fights upon rebonding.

They may become a couple straight away bit as said, one the hormones kick on she may turn on him and then there's the separation when she goes to be spayed.

At the end of the day it is up to you but i would highly recommend waiting until she is spayed. You can introduce them to each other's scent but i wouldn't invite any close contact before that.

They will become i couple i am sure but your best chances are post-spay :)

I bonded Splodge with Sugarplum when she was only around 10 weeks old, he went with her when she was spayed and looked after her afterwards, he is a very placid boy though! He did have to hide his bum from her a bit before she was done but it wasn't a problem as he was always much faster and seems to like a bossy woman!
