So, went to P@H today to scout round for a new hammie cage and noticed a large number of people looking at the bunny 'pit' as I call it. My son looked in and said he liked the up eared buns so I seized my chance and said very loudly "but sweetheart, a lot of the buns here will end up in rescue because the kids they are bought for will get bored. Plus they go through a teen phase which can be unpleasant. Its much better to go to a rescue like..Southampton Rabbit Rescue (plug ) and get some grown up bunnies who will really love a good home"
The next thing he asked was "we could get one of those hutches (pointing to a threefooter). So I equally loudly replied "Hmm, there are very very small. The RSPCA says a minimum of 6 foot long but we want to give them as much space as possible...alot of people don't bother"
I had a lot of parents eyes on me by this time, a few whispers about rescue bunnies, a few telling their children some good reasons why they shouldn't have buns. I felt really pleased with myself...yay Some prob thought what a crazy lady I was LOL
