Me and my big mouth

Ceretrea

Warren Scout
So, went to P@H today to scout round for a new hammie cage and noticed a large number of people looking at the bunny 'pit' as I call it. My son looked in and said he liked the up eared buns so I seized my chance and said very loudly "but sweetheart, a lot of the buns here will end up in rescue because the kids they are bought for will get bored. Plus they go through a teen phase which can be unpleasant. Its much better to go to a rescue like..Southampton Rabbit Rescue (plug :p ) and get some grown up bunnies who will really love a good home"

The next thing he asked was "we could get one of those hutches (pointing to a threefooter). So I equally loudly replied "Hmm, there are very very small. The RSPCA says a minimum of 6 foot long but we want to give them as much space as possible...alot of people don't bother"

I had a lot of parents eyes on me by this time, a few whispers about rescue bunnies, a few telling their children some good reasons why they shouldn't have buns. I felt really pleased with myself...yay :D Some prob thought what a crazy lady I was LOL

Hi, was this today? Just curious because we no longer sell 3' hutches and haven't done for a long time. The smallest hutch we do is 4' x 2' x 2'.

good for u, I was really surprised at my local p@h as they were refusing to sell a bunny to two teenaged girls:lol: She was being asked how she would pay for it and how they would exercise it, their answer was, take it for a walk on the park. Was very impressed that they would not sell:D

Good for you and your beautiful big mouth!

thats good, I was in P@H the other day, they only had 1 bunny in the "pit" I thought I heard someone behind me while I was at the till asking if they knew of any other pet shops that sold rabbits, I was going to approach them when I left the store but they were no where to be seen :?

Strange? The smallest hutch in the range is The Poppy Den and it's a 4' hutch.

Not sure why the argument but as a experienced fish keeper I know my feet so to speak. This one was def not four feet, especially on its label :D Shame I didn't note down the name..didn;t think I needed to in all honesty.

Its a shame peeps think pet stores are the only option. I have to say, I have nothing against my local P@H, it contains a handful of very knowledgable people obviously trying to make a difference in their own way. It justs makes me so sad...especially seeing the rodents in tiny glass cages..I mean..six gerbils today in one tiny tiny cage

eta:- what I can't get online in terms of dry goods, I buy there...I have to we don't have another pet store near enough. I wonder why they don't just specialise in dry goods?

It's not an argument, I'm just curious because I know we discontinued the
36" Brecon. Vile little hutch. Surprised to hear there are any left.

Hmmm, well its good to know that its prob the last of any stock they might have. I wonder why they are selling it :?
