  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Need a opinion

I just got this rabbit today, and the only info I was able to get was that it was a male(maybe) and that it is 2 months old. Now i been doing some looking around, and from what i seen, rabbits that are 2 months old look more, how should i say it, more mature. I know its a dwarf but i need an extra opinion because it looks alot younger.

anyone have any ideas on the breed?

I am not sure about the breed or the age of your rabbit. However, if I were you, I would take him (or her) to the vets for a check up and vaccinations - rabbits need to be vaccinated against myxomatosis and HVD. I would also get him (or her) sexed by a vet. Where did you get your rabbit from?

I would say he does look about the 7/8 weeks mark. He definately doesn't look drastically younger.

Be careful to avoid sudden diet changes, which is the main cause of problems in babies, and provide plenty of hay.

He's a cross breed, probably some dutch but could be anything :)
