Pype Hays Vets (Nr Erdington, Birmingham)

Does anybody use them I was told by the RWAF lady over the phone that it was the nearest one to me and one of the vets has a particular interest in rabbits.

I phoned the vets up and asked for prices and suprised at the cost of a checkup being £18 is this normal?

Neuter is £52 which I thought was a good price, but then vaccinations are twenty something pounds?

http://www.pypehayesvets.co.uk/WWW/PHV3642/PypeHayesVets_co_uk.nsf they're website quotes a lot of stuff from the rwaf

I like the part that says this:-

Like many animals that are preyed upon, rabbits will hide symptoms of disease. If they allow themselves to appear "a little off colour" it will make them easy victims to predators. Therefore by the time that symptoms show the animals may be very sick having been getting worse over a period. Therefore if you are ever in doubt about the health of your pet don’t wait. Organise a health check at Pype Hayes Veterinary Centre. But organise it quickly before it is too late. You will never be crying "Wolf"! Even if all the vet does is to put your mind at rest, they won’t mind. They would far rather do that, than have a pet suffer unnecessarily.

As it sounds like they are a vet practice willing to listen, rather than our previous vets that were farm orientated (delt with sheep, cattle etc mainly then secondary were dogs cats and very little on rabbits)

Any advice or info would be much appreciated thanks :)

Hello there

You must live near me  Yes I have used them for vaccinations for Fat Fluffs charity as they give us a discount. There is a vet there who is rabbit savvy but can't remember her name. The good thing about them is that they are open all day sat - but the bad thing is you can't book and I've waited ages before now.

I use Newhall Veterinary Practice (just passed Walmley village straight up Eachelhurst about a mile and a half from Pype Hays) and have done for the last 8 or so years. I really rate them, Sivan in particular is very good with buns and has done a specialist course in rabbits. They are always willing to listen to things I suggest and get Lapinjest in for my VHD's as one of my buns reacts to Cylap. I would recommend them :D

Hello

I use them and it was me that recommended them to the RWAF :D
Been using em for years now, they've neutered all my buns and burr Sootys teeth regulary. The very rabbit savvy vet is Lousie Coates who's brill and has buns herself. She will be going on maternity leave at the end of august though, but there is another rabbit savvy vet called Charlotte.
The £18 fee is for the initial consultation, if you return for the same problem its normally cheaper next time :p

Also, i spoke to Lousie last week about Cylap and she looked into Lapinject, and said she would order it in for me next time!
Vaccinations are normally £15 but lapinject would be dearer.

Pen x
