  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

My bunny's toes are drying what should i do?

New Kit
I noticed that my bunny's toes on his right paw are drying and it's gone flakey but on his other paw it seems normal. Is there anything i should put on it?

Keep eye on them as this could become a lot worse. Is his feet furry or not as he should have agood layer of fur on his feet however you can give them a little moisturise! Yeah really our vet tells us to do winnies (he has terrible bad feet due to being left in a tiny hutch in his own wee for months) but any moisuriser will work if you have E45 thats what we first used or baby creams try not to use a smelly one but it doesnt really matter too much.
Try and let it dry in bit as they tend to try and wash it off.
Do this twice a week you could even put little bit on other paws once a week.
If they get any worse looking or start to become inflamed red or bleed then get them checked straight away with vet. Otherwise once you have problem with bad feet it doesnt go away and can get exspensive.

His paws are still furry but the dry part of his toes are quite noticeable. there's no bleeding though it's just terrible flakey.

thanks for your help winnies angel! i'll follow your advice. we've got cetaphil moisturizer. hopefully that'll work on him too.
