Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

EC. Panacur course

Hi - we're currently treating Daisy with a 28 day course as advised by the vet. We're coming to the end of the course in the next few days, which is a real shame as over the last week, Daisy has started to show real improvements.

Is it safe to extend the course to try and eradicate the EC further. It seems a shame to have got this far and to have to stop!

Does anyone have their buns on Panacur permanently? Is that safe? Just wondering if it's an option to keep the EC at bay, rather than it keep flaring up and then having to fight it again.

Thanks guys

Many people recommend a 6weeks course, thats what my boy kermit had when he was treated for EC.

Wouldnt do it permanantly as the bun could become immune to it

My foster bunny Lola has EC and it's 28 days tonight since we started panacuring. I've been wondering about carrying on for 6 weeks, but I've more or less decided to stop at 4 weeks because it stresses them out so much and we haven't seen much of an improvement in her head tilt so suspect it's permanent damage which she is coping with very well.

BTW is EC known to be related to temperature? So many people posted on here around the same time as me about EC and I know a couple of other bunnies locally who were struck down at exactly the same time just after that really hot weather in June. However I haven't seen much on here since it cooled down..
