Lovely pictures.
I seem to remember seeing a natural history programme ages ago about an island where there are loads of wild rabbits and there are no land based predators. I think it may have been Skomer? That might explain how he got so close. There was a clip on the programme of a bird of prey picking up a baby rabbit and then the mother rabbit throwing herself at it at such speed that it dropped the baby. It was an amazing piece of film.
