  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

eric doesn't seem to be pooping enough. he did for the couple of days i first brought him home after his castration but i haven't found many poops at all today. yesterday he seemed to be doing big mushy poops outside on the grass but not a lot at all since then.

at the moment i have no car and tbh, our 'emergency' vet to contact is part of the group i used first when he was poorly - so i have absolutely no confidence in them at all now.

could anyone advise me on what to look and feel for with eric and his tum please?

well he's decided to have a hay cake snack (only cos i broke it in half for him - lazy boy:roll:) so i'm hoping this gets him going:?

supposed to be examining his stitches too but he's not a happy bunny when picked up unless its just for a really quick cuddle (like when i have to put him in the travel thing).

sunday afternoon stress eh:cry: and its p'ing down outside.

I found your cardboard eating thread 1st.
Felt it was a sign of hind gut slowing down. Can you see your vet tomorrow?

With tum - get to know what his normal bowel sounds are like - just get your ear on his flank. I can't examine a bun's tum accurately yet!!
Your oh or son would have to comment on smell of the squidgy poops. Dysbiosis poops stink! Other than that it's reduced output, changed size, abnormal shape, etc.

You will know that distension/swelling, no poop out put or no food/fluid intake is an emergency & don't describe these features.

All the best for you both please keep us updated.
