Chewing NIC grid......is this safe?

Hi,
My new bun billy decided that the nic grid tunnel i made the buns looked tasty and nibbled a bit, its more than 24hrs later and he's absolutely fine. I took the tunnel out but im not sure if i should put it back in?

What was it made of besides NIC?

My NIC grids are just metal and he cant chew anything off of it

mine are plastic coated....the only type you can get in australia

Id imagine small amounts should be ok....would need to know exactly what the stuff is made of though.
Kermit ate loads of his shower mat thing before i managed to get him some hard plastic flooring.....never seemed to do him any harm.
