Lionheads and their fur!

rotts05

Young Bun
I have been looking through eveyones gorgeous bunny pics. I have spotted a few Lionheads but none of their coats resemble my buns. She is 5 / 6 months old so is there time for her to lose some fur??

I had a Lionhead a few years ago and she had a fluffy head and a fluffy bum but the rest of her was quite manageable.

Rosie who I have now is just fur and seems to be getting even fluffier!

I will add a pic of her at about 3 months old and a couple from the last few weeks. I have to trim her face and bum with scissors so she can see and keep clean. Does anyone have any tips with regards to keeping her comfortable? I have even looked online for bunny groomers but couldn't find any!

I groom her every couple of days and get plenty out. Here is her a bit younger..

She's very sweet.

I have two that are even furrier than her! One has a very wool like coat similar to your buns but longer.

She may moult some, but personally I think if anything it will grow longer. With lionheads being a relatively new breed, the majority aren't perfect as far as the breed standard go...and you end up with buns like ours. You can buy clippers yourself, I just use Wahl dog clippers and regularly clip their coats short. I really hate that people breed them, it's simply for aesthetic purposes, people buy them because they think they are cute, and can't cope with their coats :(

I have clipped dogs and cats but never a rabbit, with another pair of hands I would be happy to though. How do you clip them? It is only her face and back end that are a problem. I wondered if she was full Lionhead the way her fur kept coming but I have read that some Lionheads can just have long fur...

I got her from a pet shop but this pet shop was also happy to sell her with a guinea pig (who do not live together now).

send a complaint to the pet shop, not a good pet shop in deed!!

aw she's very cute  some lionheads are fluffier than others, you can have a whole litter of lionheads and maybe only one will turn out fluffy. my ted was really fluffy but she's lost it as she's got older. she still has a full mane though.

My Lionhead Casper is double maned - ie has a fluffy head and skirt.

He was fluffy all over as a baby. Now in summer he loses tonnes and you can clearly see the skirt but in the winter his coat is so thick all over he looks like a cotton wool ball.

No-one really likes him but I think he's adorable. My vet has fallen for him to.

Ooh they are gorgeous little fluff balls

I think my Bramble is maybe a lionhead cross, not sure what with though!
